The Little People Romania is a non profit association based in Cluj-Napoca. Its members have been working in the country for 14 years. The Little People Association has been registered in Romania for 7 years.
We believe that we can make a positive difference for good within Romania! We actively do and promote the following:
Promote volunteer activity and create volunteer opportunities.
Provide training for volunteers via workshops and seminars, offer ongoing support/training for volunteers involved in projects
Provide trained volunteers to work within Romania’s healthcare facilities and community centers
Provide in-hospital support to cancer patients with trained volunteers - view link for details
Organize events in/out of hospital and manage the Temerarii project for cancer survivors
Work in partnership with the Lamont Center, to provide life long learning programs to marginalized groups in Romania.
Organize and co-manage RITTO, Romania’s largest international sporting event for people with disabilites
Provide CSR - CSO advice to small - medium size businesses in effective giving and enhancement of their brand within the community
Our volunteer projects take place in the following places
Oncology:
Cluj-Napoca:
Patient support program at the “I. CHIRICUTA” Oncology Institute onco-paediatric department, since 1996.
Cluj-Napoca:
Regular volunteer involvement and patient support program at Pediatrie II children's’ hospital since 2006.
Bucharest:
In-hospital patient support program based on volunteer involvement at the Bucharest Oncology Institute paediatric ward.
Temerarii Club for cancer survivor teenagers
Support network for teenagers who have overcome the disease and out-of-hospital events for teenagers currently under treatment for cancer
Psychiatry:
Collaborating with the Medical University “Iuliu Hetieganu”, dept. of psychiatry for children and adolescents, neurology clinic in Manastur, Cluj-Napoca.
Pediatria IV:
Regular multidisciplinary rehabilitation work with infants and young children suffering from malnutrition, Pediatria IV, Grigorescu, Cluj-Napoca.
Schools:
Bathory School, special classes I-V for children with learning disabilities.
Special School for children with Hearing Impairment nr 2,
“Kallos” foundation boarding school for ethnic minorities in Rascruci
Orphanages:
“Oblio” State Orphanage and day-care center for children with behavior problems and emotional turbulence in Cluj-Napoca
Training:
Collaboration with the local high schools and Universities:
Collaboration with the psycho-pedagogy and psychology departments of the Babes-Boyai University, Cluj-Napoca, providing training and volunteer involvement opportunities for the students.
Humanitarian aid distribution:
regular help to many Cluj-Napoca based institutions for marginalised groups, connecting surpluses of companies with those who need them
